A trucker and a bar owner with a common cause find love in this adrenaline-fueled series starter from prolific Foster (The Somerset Girls, 2020). Sterling "Star" Parson had many hardships growing up, but now she spends her time on her truck routes doing all she can to help women escape from being trafficked. Cade McKenzie is drawn to the surly and secretive woman who frequents his bar, and Star, in turn, is not immune to his incredibly good looks. After Cade helps Star out of a sticky situation, she learns that he does more than tend bar; his whole family works together to catch traffickers and rescue women. Strong trust is necessary for Cade and Star to unite against a common enemy. As they open up to each other, romantic feelings blossom even while danger lurks. This Colorado-set story is perfectly paced. Although the subject matter is heavy, and violence is realistically portrayed, the core of the story is the sexy and emotionally honest relationship between Star and Cade. These two capable, inspiring, and sympathetic characters and their struggles are completely captivating.
